2008: Year of the Rat

>> Wednesday, December 26

2008 is Year of the Rat (my year since I was born in 1984...That's why I like cheese so much.. hehe). Here are some info I found here and here...

Though the Western rat is reviled as little more than a bottom-dwelling disease carrier, this animal is viewed much differently in the East. The Eastern rat is revered for its quick wits and its ability to accrue and hold on to items of value; rats are considered a symbol of good luck and wealth in both China and Japan. Clever and quick-witted, the Rat of the Chinese Zodiac is utterly disarming to boot. Possessed of excellent taste, this Sign flaunts its style at every turn. Its natural charm and sharp, funny demeanor make it an appealing friend for almost anyone. The Rat likes to know who is on its side and will treat its most loyal friends with an extra measure of protection and generosity.

Behind that sweet smile, though, Rats are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas. This Sign is motivated by its own interests, which often include money; greed can become a problem if the Rat isn't careful to keep its priorities straight. This Sign's natural powers of charm and persuasion can definitely come in handy! Although they are often hoarders, Rats can be very generous to those in their pack, namely friends and family members who have proven their loyalty. Others might perceive them as quick-tempered and sharp-tongued, but never boorish. Verbal jousting is a great pleasure for the Rat, a Sign that everyone around will quickly learn either to love or to hate.

Rats enjoy being on the outside looking in, as the outside affords a view into the inner workings of a system or situation. The Rat's keen mind always seeks out new knowledge, to be stored away for future use. This ever-curious Sign also welcomes challenges as a way to stay sharp. If boredom sets in the Rat is no fun at all, but that isn't likely; this Sign knows how to keep itself entertained.

A valuable lesson for Rats is to learn to consider others above themselves, at least sometimes. If they can develop their sense of self and realize it leaves room for others in their life as well, Rats could find true happiness.

The most compatible match for a Rat is the Dragon or the Monkey.

12 Days of Christmas

>> Saturday, December 22

Ever wonder what's the meaning behind the song "12 Days of Christmas." I found this months ago while browsing through the net out of boredom from work (hehehe shhhhh...). I though I'll just post it here just because its Christmas.. hehe oh and I chose this version of Alvin and the Chipmunks 'cause their so cute and I can't wait to see their movie...

The song goes, "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…"

The "true love" mentioned in the song doesn’t refer to an earthly suitor, but it refers to God Himself. The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person.

1st Day: The partridge in a pear tree is Christ Jesus upon the Cross. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge because she would feign injury to decoy a predator away from her nestlings. She was even willing to die for them. The tree is the symbol of the fall of the human race through the sin of Adam and Eve. It is also the symbol of its redemption by Jesus Christ on the tree of the Cross.

2nd Day: The "two turtle doves" refers to the Old and New Testaments.

3rd Day: The "three French hens" stand for faith, hope and love — the three gifts of the Spirit that abide (1 Corinthians 13).

4th Day: The "four calling birds" refers to the four evangelists who wrote the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke and John—which sing the song of salvation through Jesus Christ.

5th Day: The "five golden rings" represents the first five books of the Bible, also called the Jewish Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

6th Day: The "six geese a-laying" is the six days of creation.

7th Day: The "seven swans a-swimming" refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

Photobucket

8th Day: The "eight maids a milking " reminded children of the eight beatitudes listed in the Sermon on the Mount.

9th Day: The "nine ladies dancing" were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

10th Day: The "ten lords a-leaping" represents the Ten Commandments.

Photobucket

11th Day: The "eleven pipers piping" refers to the eleven faithful apostles.

Photobucket

12th Day: The "twelve drummers drumming" were the twelve points of belief expressed in the Apostles’ Creed: belief in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, made man, crucified, died and arose on the third day, that he sits at the right hand of the father and will come again, the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.

We celebrate Christmas not only for the gifts, the food, and all the merry-making with our families and friends, we celebrate Christmas to remind us of Jesus and his teachings and all the blessing we recieved from God all throughout the year and the years to come. :) Merry Christmas everyone!!

How Do I Fall In Love

HOW DO YOU FALL IN LOVE
(Jose Mari Chan)

How do you fall in love?
And when do you say I do?
And when is the perfect time?
To spend the rest of your life

Seasons may come and go
And sometimes it rains and snows
There will be highs and lows
So only you will know

You never know just where it will find you
It can come only so fast
It seems like it takes forever
When you want it so bad
But don't ever take it for granted'cause it's more than sowing some seeds
It takes sun and water
So give it what it needs

And that's how you fall in love
That's when you say I do
That's when you know it's time
To spend the rest of your life

Now seasons may come and go
And sometimes it rains and snows
There will be highs and lows
So only you will know
There will be highs and lows
So only you will know...

Here's some few facts about women...

Fine - This is a word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

Five mins - If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. In our language when women say "padulong" (on my way), this usually means I'm still getting dressed you have to wait more. For some, this would mean I have to take a bath first, then get dressed,.. blah blah blah.. then you have to wait for at least an hour.

Nothing - This is the calm before the storm. It means SOMETHING, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with NOTHING usually end in FINE. Expect for the worst. hehe

Go ahead (or "ikaw gud") - This is a dare! NOT a permission. Don't do it! And I mean don't. Women just say this so that it would seem we are not manipulating you. But in fact, we are. You just don't know it. :) If you still insist on doing your thing, then expect a silent treatment from us.

Loud sigh - This means she thinks you're and idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time arguing with you about NOTHING. Guys just can't you take a hint.

That's ok - This means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistakes.. hehehehe

Ok so guys, you better know how to read a woman's hints...

A Perfect Christmas
By Jose Mari Chan

My idea of a perfect Christmas
Is to spend it with you
In a party
Or dinner for two
Anywhere would do
Celebrating the yuletide season
Always lights up our lives
Simple pleasures are made special too
When their shared with you

Looking through some old photographs
Faces of friends we'll always remember
Watching busy shoppers rushing about
In the cool breeze of December
Sparkling lights, all over town
Children's carols in the air
By the Christmas tree
A shower of stardust on your hair

I cant think of a better Christmas
Than my wish coming true
And my wish is you'd let me spend my whole life with you

My idea of a perfect Christmas is to spend it with you

My superpower

Have you ever wished you have superpowers? Watching movies like X-men, Spiderman, and my recent fav, Heroes, I always wish I have superhuman abilities like them. So I could do my own thing, my way, my time. I'm a bit selfish am I? But I'm pretty sure I'm not the only selfish slightly wicked person in the world who wishes she have powers. Dba?! Dba?! Dba?! :) (shoutout to lurch: don't tell me for once in your life you wished you can control the world...hehehe us and our evil plans of ruling the world).

Me? I'd like my power to be like that of Matt Parkman (Heroes) and that of Professor X — to read and control minds. Nyahahhahah.. So I could hear people's thoughts and tell them what to do. And I could tell all the people I hate to go kill themselves. Bwahahahhahahaha Ok so I'm a control freak. That's me. Maybe I should not have powers. Who knows what I'll do if I have them... hehehhe

So what would be your power?
