The Best Gift Ever

>> Saturday, June 28

Zerisse tagged me on this one days ago and I wasn't able to post it right away (hehe sorry Z!). I was very busy this week. I just started doing this "something really important" thing and eventhough I basically am right in front of my PC about 8 hours everyday, I still couldn't find some extra minutes to do my tags (well I posted a few, though dba? hehe). Well anyway, here goes...

*** Start Here ***

Rules:
1. Simply copy the inspirational story and in the end write down the lesson you have learned out from this.
2. Put your own blog name and link. Pass or tag this to your friends to inspire them.
3. Start copy from “Begin Copy” until “End Copy” to your blog.

--- The Best Gift Ever ---

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him.
He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,
"With all your money you give me a Bible?"
And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him.
He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.
He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,
"And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...
PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessing because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...

PLEASE SEND THIS TO AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE SO AS TO LET THIS GREAT LESSON FLOW AROUND.

*** End Copy***

Lesson learned: Blessings come in mysterious ways. It might not be in the right "package" as what the story says, it might not be what we really wanted on the first place, but definitely it is what God wants for us. We should be very happy with what we have right now, those are the "little" gifts, the blessings that came from someone above who loves us.

*note: you can copy and post this if you want to.. :)

Every year about 30 typhoons come to the Philippines, and they leave behind damages, losses, and deaths. It has been a week since the tragic accident brought by the typhoon Frank. I'm sure you've heard of the tragedy of MV Princess of the Stars. This prayer goes out to the survivors, the grieving families and friends, as well as the other Filipinos around the Philippines who are mourning for their losses.

Prayer for the MV Princess of the Stars fatalities and survivors.
Dear God, we pray that you comfort each bereaved family everyday as they grieved for their loss, we pray that you will supply all their needs, we pray for the survivors that they may have a good life after the tragedy, that you will bless them and let them know in the deepest part of their heart that in spite of what have happened, you LOVE and CARE for them. This we pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Please, let us encourage everyone to keep the prayer going.

LET’S P.U.S.H.

Dinner conversation gone bad...

WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?"
HUSBAND: "Definitely not!"
WIFE: "Why not - don't you like being married?"
HUSBAND: "Of course I do."
WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?"
HUSBAND: "Okay, I'd get married again."
WIFE: "You would? (with a hurtful look on her face)."
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan).
WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?"
HUSBAND: "Where else would we sleep?"
WIFE: "Would you replace my pictures with hers?"
HUSBAND: "That would seem like the proper thing to do."
WIFE: "Would you play golf with her?"
HUSBAND: "I guess so."
WIFE: "Would she use my golf clubs?"
HUSBAND: "No, she's left-handed."
WIFE: - - - silence - - -
HUSBAND: "Shit."

World Class Professions

I'm doing this tag from Zerisse. It's about professions.. Honestly, I don't know what I am. I have a degree in Business Management, but I don't think that is a profession. Let me just tell you what I have been up to these past several weeks... :)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy and paste everything to a new post and add your name next to your profession (or profession-to-be for undergrads) in the list. Make sure your name is linked to your blog/webbie.

2. If your profession is not in the list then simply add it to the correct alphabetical place. For example, if you want to add PLUMBER then it should be placed in between ONCOLOGIST and QUEEN.

3. Tag as many people as you can and witness how your Technorati will explode!

4. Don’t forget to link back. In your case, link back to sHeNzEe's wOrLd

what is love?

>> Tuesday, June 24

If someone asks you what is your definition of love, what would it be? Well I, for one, don't have a definition of love. Can it really be defined? Described, yes, but defined? I don't know. Back in high school, I wrote poems about love - and of course, heartaches. But that kind of love is just one thing. There are so different types(?), stages(?), or forms of love. Be it love for family, friends, and especially love for God. Some also mentioned love for enemies. Honestly, could you really love your enemies? :) How could you love someone you deeply hate? I could go on and on about love, but.. all I can say is this, "Love is complicated".

Now why am I talking about love today, well I got tagged by my friend Lurch, and since I don't have anything else to post today (I've been uber busy these past few days), I decided to do this meme....

*START COPY HERE*

1. Make a post with your answer to the question “What is Love?”

2. After the post, copy the complete instruction from *START COPY HERE* to *END COPY HERE* together with the pexlinks banner and place it under your post.

3. Please make sure you copy all the links and all must be originally intact.

4. After making the post, please comment HERE with the permalink of your post.

5. Please visit HERE every now and then to update your post with all the links of the participants.

6. Tag as many friends as you want. Share the love and receive love. We are hoping that spreading this will help us in our Technorati authority and maybe PR.

Bearers of Love: 1 – Pexlinks Triple Love 2 – Pinay Mommy Online 3 – Momhood Moments 4 – Aerin’s Collection 5 – Deranged Insanity 6 - Anthology of Snippets 7 sHeNzEe's wOrLd 8 - you’re next…

Stormy Sunday

>> Sunday, June 22

I'm in a hurry today. I have lots and lots of work to do plus I have to do something for my mom. Let me just post these conversations I joined at dNeero.

*just an update: It's still raining hard today, and we have a couple of power failures... typhoon Frank swept through the Philippine islands and left billions of damages, millions of families homeless, thousands of Filipinos dead or missing. The typhoon has not left the Philippines yet... Let us continue to pray for our country and our fellowmen..

another rainy day...

>> Friday, June 20

It's been raining all day today, probably because of the typhoon Frank. Thankfully there are no strong winds in our area, only lots and lots of rain. You see I live inside a campus where there are so many acacia trees. If you walk around when there's a really strong wind (plus rain), there's a big chance a twig or a branch will fall on you. Now who would walk around when there's a typhoon?! Anyway, I love the rain, but strong (typhoonic?) winds just makes me nervous.

Anyway, well I found something worthy of my time, plus I can generate some extra income too! So that's my big secret why I have been so busy these days. Well it's not exactly a secret since most of my friends already know. Oh well just wanted to let you guys know in case your wondering... or not. :)

Now what was I saying..? Oh yeah.. it has been raining all day, and I'd like to share to you what my dog, Odie, has been doing...

She curled up in a corner and I tried to give her a mat and a blanket cause I'm sure she's cold or something, but she just wouldn't budge. Same with my other dog, Toki (but I couldn't take a shot of him curled up, cause he's under our Jeep). What hard headed doggies I have.. They just don't want to be disturb... hehehe

New super-Earths discovered

>> Tuesday, June 17

European research discovered three "super-Earths" orbiting a star. They also discovered two other solar systems with similar planets too. Now how cool is that! According to my trusty friend Wikipedia a "super-Earth is the popular misnomer for a large extrasolar terrestrial planet. The standard criterion is that it has at least twice the mass of Earth, but less than ten Earth masses." There have been several discoveries of "super-Earths" to date. The first was on 1991 by Wolszczan and Frail with masses around 4 times the Earth.
Anyway, the recently discover planets orbit a star with a lesser mass compared to our Sun, 42 light-years away towards the southern Doradus and Pictor constellations. The planets orbit their star at extremely rapid speeds - one in just four days, compared with Earth's 365 days, one taking 10 days and the slowest taking 20 days. Imagine the speed, if there are living things in those planets what would they look like? So much for celebrating birthdays. :)

It's so exciting to hear about these discoveries. It goes to show that we are not alone in this universe. Who know in the near future we would be traveling around space, and maybe time.

Hump Day: Dieting

>> Wednesday, June 11

"Brain cells come and brain cells go, but fat cells live forever."

Some Facts About Diet
  • It's something most of us do religiously: We eat what we want and pray we don't gain weight.
  • Sweets are the destiny that shapes our ends.
  • The toughest part of a diet isn't watching what you eat. It's watching what other people eat.
  • The most fattening thing you can put in an ice cream sundae is a spoon.
  • A diet is when you have to go to some length to change your width.
  • Most people gain weight by having intimate dinners for two...alone.
  • Diets are for people who are thick and tired of it.
  • A diet is what you go on when not only can't you fit into the store's dresses, you can't fit into the dressing room.
  • A diet is the modern-day meal in which a family counts its calories instead of its blessings.
  • One guideline applies to fat and thin people alike: If you're thin, don't eat fast. If you're fat, don't eat - FAST.

"Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies..."
Happy dieting everyone!! :)

Changes

Have you ever woke up one day and suddenly realized that your life just isn't like it used to be. A sudden realization that smacks right into your face and you just feel empty(?) and a bit lost. Well something just hit me today and somehow I feel scared. Changes in our lives, both good and bad, are inevitable. It's how we deal with them that makes living more difficult, yet somehow interesting. I'm about to embark on a new path, so different from what I was planning to be. Hopefully, this would not go down the dumps like my previous plans. Oh well, I'm always open to changes, be it good or bad... :)

Anyway, let me share this song Empty by Click Five. I've been quite feeling "empty" lately..oh go figure...

My latest craze these days is Cake Mania 2. I love playing Cake Mania on my mobile, now I'm playing the sequel on my PC. Cake Mania 2 is a time management game developed by Sandlot Games. The sequel has more themes - a rooftop bakery, underwater theme park, north pole, and other locations with different layouts. Currently I'm still on the third location which is the north pole. Cake Mania 2 has more cake styles and toppings, and more kitchen upgrades. Oh and there are 18 new demanding customers that make the game more interesting not to mention more challenging.

I have to get back to my game... later! :)

Differences between you and your boss:

When you take a long time, you're slow.
When your boss takes a long time, he's thorough.

When you make a mistake, you're an idiot.
When your boss makes a mistake, he's only human.

When doing something without being told, you're overstepping your authority.
When your boss does the same thing, that's initiative.

When you take a stand, you're being pig-headed.
When your boss does it, he's being firm.

When you overlooked a rule of etiquette, you're being rude.

When you please your boss, you're arse-creeping.
When your boss pleases his boss, he's being co-operative.

Jatropha biofuel

>> Tuesday, June 3

When we went up the mountains of Zamboanguita for a research project, I noticed a plantation of a shrubs. I asked my companions what they were. They were called Jatropha curcas or locally called "Tubatuba". It produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil. This oil can then be processed into fuel that can replace or be mixed with petroleum based diesel. A hectare of Jatropha produces 1892 liters of fuel.

There is an on-going campaign in the propagation of Jatropha here in the Philippines. Benefits of propagating and processing of Jatropha as biofuel include, decrease in oil imports, reduction of air pollution, can create employment and really help the economy. Jetropha can grow just about anywhere, even on degraded lands. Also, it doesn't need much water or fertilizer thus Jatropha farming is not so difficult and not too costly.

With the gradual increase in prices of fuel and energy nowadays, it's high time we find other sources that we can produce locally.
